A psychic, on the other hand, can be broken down into many different types of which the medium is one such category. There are also psychics that predict the future, psychics that read the past, psychics that comment on the present, psychics that communicate with animals, psychics that use tools (tarot, astrology, etc), psychics that talk to spiritual guides and angels, etc. Most do a combination of things. They typically are more about helping a client either heal from the past or create a successful future depending on their specialty and background.
Morever,There is a system such as:
Empath. Feels someone else's emotions.
Intutive. Feels hunches, senses when something is desirable or undesirable without getting specifics. Usually dangerous to ignore.
Channel. Allowing one's guides to communicate through oneself. Different from a medium.
Medium. Able to communicate with those who have passed over.
Clairvoyant. Able to sense things at a distance, for instance being able to describe someone's personality and motivations, find lost objects, and so forth. This includes the wide range of the gifts such as reading minds, manipulating others, and visualizing what happened when one wasn't present. Clairvoyant fits most psychics.
Psychic. I dump most abilities into this including most of the above.
My system is informal and loose but works for me.
As for psychic ability, I don't know how psychic phenomena works, only that it does.
